American celebrity actress Scarlett Johansson filed for divorce in New York, where the couple primarily reside, from her French husband Romain Dauriac, a former journalist who now works as an art show curator in New York City.
Dauriac’s lawyer told the Associated Press that Dauriac was “shocked” by the filing, and views it as a “pre-emptive strike” in a potential custody battle.
Scarlett and Romain, who got married in October 2014, have a 3 year old daughter, Rose Dorothy.
From afar, things seemed to be going well. Last October, the couple opened Yummy Pop, a gourmet popcorn store, in Paris. “My hope is for Yummy Pop to become a Parisian snacking staple and a symbol of friendship between my two most beloved cities, Paris and New York,” Scarlett Johansson told USA Today at the time.
But appearances can be deceiving. For as it turned out, Johansson and Dauriac were separated months before the store’s opening.
