Speaking during an Australian concert at Brisbane in Queensland, Grammy and Academy Award-winning singer Adele has finally confirmed that she and her longtime partner, Simon Konecki, have married. She gave no date or other details, and has not commented further on social media.
Adele, 28, and Konecki, 42, a former Lehman Brothers financier who left in 2005 to found the U.K. charity drop4drop, have been photographed wearing wedding bands in recent weeks, the BBC noted Sunday.
Last month, Adele ignited speculation that she had married when she said in her acceptance speech for her Song of the Year Grammy Award, “The [Recording] Academy, I love you, my manager, my husband and my son — you’re the only reason I do it.” But backstage speaking with reporters, People magazine said at the time, she referred to Konecki, as her “partner,” and some believed the term “husband” may have been meant informally, as an endearment.
Konecki and Adele were first seen publicly as a couple in January 2012. Their son, Angelo, was born in October of that year.
