Tatiana and Wadih's Charming Sicilian Wedding
Tatiana Abou Chedid and Wadih Abi Khalil wanted to have a different wedding; one that exudes with beauty, charm, tradition and nature. And what better location to pick for an authentic and fun destination wedding than the Italian island of Sicily. This Lebanese wedding was held on 7 June 2019 and was attended by 264 guests who flew in from across the world.
Sicily is the largest Mediterranean island just off the "toe" of Italy's "boot." Its rich history and tradition offer creative wedding planners ample inspiration to create beautiful wedding setups and decor which was exactly what the talented team of Beirut-based Cameleon Managemen Weddings and Events, led by Natasha Salameh, did with Tatiana and Wadih's wedding.
Let's start with the charming Sicilian-inspired pre-wedding party.
Pre-Wedding Dinner at the Godfather's House!
The pre-wedding dinner was held at Catello Degli Schiavi which is recognised as the Godfather's House. The venue was famously used for the wedding scene of Michael Corleone in The Godfather, and also for scenes in Godfather II. Thus, the inspiration for the pre-wedding theme was none other than the legendary movie The Godfather!
Long rustic wood tables decorated with authentic blue and white vases and laid with blue, white and gold tableware were chosen for the table setup, in addition to matte gold candelabras and the legendary Sicilian ceramic Moors Heads (Testa Di Moro) that symbolise love and passion. Yellow roses mixed with other yellow and white blooms and greenery were naturally arranged in different sizes and heights of vases. Lemons and Kumquats added a fresh Sicilan vibe to the tablescape.
Guests danced the night away with traditional Sicilian dancers and musicians, and the men enjoyed their cigars and were sent off with the typical Godfather hat.
The Wedding
This enchanting venue in Sicily, Castello Xirumi, inspired the 'woodland' wedding theme for this destination wedding for Tatiana and Wadih. The Xirumi-Serravalle Castle dates back to the 16th century. The wedding ceremony was held underneath a natural forest accentuated with hanging chandeliers and furnished with beautiful green chairs that seated all their wedding guests. Arrangements of light pink roses, natural greenery and pampas grass were used to line up the aisle. After the ceremony, guests moved to the dinner area. The 'woodland' wedding theme was clear in the table setup and flower arrangements of pink and peach roses with a pop of turquoise.
