Sheikha Mahra Announces Divorce on Instagram Account
Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the daughter of Dubai’s ruler and UAE Prime Minister Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has seemingly announced her divorce on Instagram, marking a rare public declaration by a princess in the United Arab Emirates.
On Wednesday, the 30-year-old's Instagram account posted, "I hereby declare our divorce. I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you. Take care. Your ex-wife." This announcement appears to reference the controversial practice of triple divorce, a method used in some Muslim countries where a man can instantly divorce his wife by declaring it three times. This practice is banned in some regions and is not typically invoked by women.

Sheikha Mahra married Sheikh Mana Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, a fellow member of the Dubai ruling family, last year in a lavish ceremony featured in magazines like Harper’s Bazaar Arabia and Grazia. The couple had a daughter shortly after their marriage. Since the announcement, pictures of her with her husband have been removed from her account, and Sheikh Mana's Instagram account also lacks any photos of her.
