The Royal Wedding of HRH Prince Abdul Mateen Bolkiah of Brunei
In anticipation of the grand celebration, the wedding of HRH Prince Abdul Mateen Bolkiah of Brunei kicked off on January 7, 2023.
The lavish ceremony will unite Prince Abdul Mateen and Anisha Rosnah binti Adam in matrimony.
Prince Abdul Mateen, the 32-year-old son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, has captivated social media with his wedding preparations, including a heartfelt Instagram post expressing his wishes for the new year.
The bride-to-be, Anisha Rosnah binti Adam, is the granddaughter of a special advisor to the Sultan, and the couple's public appearances, notably at Princess Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah's wedding, have sparked widespread interest.
The 10-day festivities kicked off with a proposal ceremony, accompanied by musical performances from Royal Court artists.
For the Khatam Quran ceremony held on January 3, the bride donned a stunning custom-made baju kurung (a traditional attire of Malays) in pearly white, designed by Brunei's esteemed fashion designer, Teh Firdaus. This traditional attire, meticulously crafted using traditional methods, featured intricate patterns and floral embellishments, exuding regal elegance.
The culmination on January 11 witnessed the exchange of vows at the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque in Bandar Seri Begawan.
A royal wedding reception and banquet held on January 14 will precede a majestic parade in Bandar Seri Begawan (the capital and largest city of Brunei), marking the conclusion of the ceremony on January 16.
While the guest list for the wedding remains undisclosed, speculation is rife about the attendance of prominent dignitaries, possibly including Middle Eastern royals. Prince Abdul Mateen's recent discussions with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain add to the intrigue.
The presence of Prince Abdul Mateen at HRH Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II's wedding and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah's attendance at King Charles III's coronation and Prince William's wedding hint at the possibility of notable figures gracing this momentous occasion.
The Bride Wore Zuhair Murad
Yang Mulia Anisha Rosnah opted for a wedding gown by Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad for her nuptials to Brunei Prince Abdul Mateen.
The bride wore a simple long-sleeve ivory gown adorned with embroidered floral motifs and crystal detailing, complemented by a cascading veil and tiara. As she arrived at the reception, she held a coordinating clutch, likely crafted from the same fabric as her elegant dress.
The Bride's Dior Wedding Gown
For her wedding ceremony on Sunday, January 14, the bride opted for Dior, a preferred choice for regal weddings.
