Tell us about your beginnings and what made you enter the world of bridal fashion.
My interest and inspiration for fashion started at a young age, as both my parents have successful businesses in the international apparel industry for over 30 years. Encouraged to pursue my lifelong dream, I moved to the United States to obtain a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising. After graduation, I worked in New York with a celebrity designer to gain hands on experience in the bridal and evening wear industry. After being exposed to the bridal world, I knew immediately this was the industry I wanted to stay in for the reason that I wasn't just creating fashion or dresses, I was creating a meaningful piece so I was inspired to create my own bridal collection in 2010, which was showcased during New York Bridal Week and Harrogate Bridal Show in the U.K.
Who is the typical Rania Hatoum bride?
She is the confident modern-day bride, she understands and exemplifies the meaning of less is more. She reveals elegance and sophistication through her simple and original style.
What's the inspiration behind your latest collection? Please tell us a bit about it.
I plan to bring something new to the bridal industry this season with my fall/winter 2019 collection, “the sleepless city”. Expect to see sleek and clean silhouettes with modern detailing and luxurious fabrics; this collection exemplifies the motto “less is more”.
“The sleepless city" collection is designed for the present day cosmopolitan bride. She is her own kind of beautiful with a contemporary flair, minimal, yet refined. A charming lady yet a proud feminist, creating modern fairytales for the millennial future.
What's the best advice you'd give a bride searching for a wedding dress.
When shopping for a wedding gown, ask yourself if the dress you’ve picked reflects your personality and style – just because it’s your wedding day doesn’t mean you have to dress as a completely different person! Another tip for choosing the perfect gown is to take a moment, close your eyes, and envision wearing the dress you’re trying at your venue with the décor, flowers, bridesmaids and whole wedding set-up. If what you envision matches perfectly, then that is the right dress.
