“After a hard year for the wedding industry, the biggest challenge was to find an alternative for people to take part, especially because they didn't have weddings neither in 2020 and most of them are starting again only now. With that in mind, we created a whole original version of the Belief Awards, where the wedding creators could submit events from any year. The concept of this edition was Timeless Weddings, and for the first time, we had 10 categories for judges to choose their favorite weddings”, says Giovana Duailibe, CEO and founder of Belief Wedding Creators.
In this edition, some wedding creators submitted photos of celebrations that happened during the pandemics - and they show theirs struggles with downsizing the weddings, making last-minute changes, replacing vendors who got Covid-19, planning a drive-in ceremony, and wearing masks.
The Belief Awards is an inclusive and diverse contest. “More than ever, we saw a high-quality variety of weddings from worldwide, which brings to people hope and inspiration”, says Giovana Duailibe.
We have chosen some of our favorite winners, you can check them out here.
A Fairy-Tale Wedding in Disneyland Paris
This couple with Indian roots decided to get married in Disneyland Paris and the wedding planner Arun Bablani of Vivaah Weddings was the one in charge of organizing it. The wedding lasted 3 days, and they catered food from London to make it happen.
This Disneyland wedding made world headlines right from its Proposal, which is trending as ‘Crop Circle Proposal’ all across online media and social media on the web. The groom took his fiancée for a helicopter ride and surprised her with a ‘Will You Marry Me?’ sign created purely out of crop circles. They then landed over the fields and spent an entire day there celebrating their proposal.
This was a true fairy tale wedding. The night took a magical turn as the civil ceremony took place right in front of the Disney Castle at the stroke of midnight with a customized Princess Fountain show and a special fairy tale entrance for the Bride and Groom. While the groom walked out of the castle amidst a fanfare of traditional trumpets, the bride arrived in her Cinderella chariot. The Mayor of Main Street Disneyland called out the vows and formalized the wedding.

Cosmic Wedding Ceremony With a Powerful Shaman
The wedding planner Gwenaelle Grosset planned this destination “barefoot” wedding in Tulum, Mexico. It included lots of local traditions like prehispanic dancers and a cosmic ceremony with a Shaman.
The atmosphere, the neon sign, the lights, and all-white flowers on tables at Taboo made this day special. The “grand-finale” was the moment with Pre Hispanic Dancers. It was a bohemian party wedding with pre-Hispanic touch. The white flowers for the tables and the colorful canopy made a perfect match. The prehispanic dancers at the middle of the dancing have been wow!

A Travel-Themed Wedding in the Vatican City
The couple’s dream was to get married in Vatican City. Anna K. Frem organized their ceremony in the stunning 16th-century baroque church of Sant'Anna dei Palafrenieri, situated inside the walls of the Vatican City. Melissa and Alexandre were in love with Rome, its majestic architecture, food, and mild weather. They wanted a whole Roman affair starting with the choice of the venues for their event.
Their dream was to get married in Vatican city. So they chose to celebrate their ceremony in the stunning 16th-century baroque church of Sant'Anna dei Palafrenieri situated inside the walls of the Vatican City. The wedding reception took place in the majestic Villa Dino located in the heart of Rome's most important archeological parks worldwide - the Ancient Appian Park. Melissa and Alexandre were fun and laid-back couple. But they were obsessed with details and meticulously worked out their wedding timeline like a Movie script. Their wedding was a mixture of formal moments and theatrical ones with a hint of humor and a lot of Italian touches: a folk trio for the cocktail, an interlude of opera during the dinner, a gelato cart, the famous"confettata"- typical Italian sweet table- and their entrance to the wedding reception in pureRoman style. We had the bride and groom take place on an elegant litter escorted by an army of gladiators and vestals along the majestic alley lined with a monumental Roman colonnade to the absolute ravishment of the guests.

Drive-in Wedding During the Pandemic
This wedding was adapted to the drive-in style because of the pandemic. The wedding planner Darlene Medeiros says it was a huge challenge to deal with several changes due to local decrees and to explain to the guests how it would work.
They had to adapt the wedding to the drive-in style because of the pandemic. The decor and color palette was very romantic. It was a huge challenge to deal with several changes due to restrictions, the expectation of the decrees of the region.
While the couple was leaving the ceremony, they made a hallway with the bridesmaids and groomsmen and gave them rose petals to toss. Everyone was thrilled with the ceremony and all the excitement that happened during the celebration. After facing so many difficulties and the uncertainty of the pandemics, the bride and groom were ecstatic at the end, especially the groom.

An Intimate Wedding During the Pandemic
This wedding in Panama happened during the pandemic, and the couple wanted something small yet breathtaking. However, the Covid-19 has brought many challenges that the wedding planner Jenny Polonsky was able to overcome.
"We wanted something small yet breathtaking. Also, since we were in the middle of a pandemic with very strict mobilization rules, we thought it would be a nice break from all the crises to have a destination wedding. We chose Boquete for its charm and because the venue (hotel Panamonte) is something out of a fairy tale book; the owner of the Panamonte hotel (ChefCharlie Collins) is a very dear friend of ours, too." Bride and groom.
The thematic inspiration for the wedding was Boquete (aka the highlands of Panama). Boquete is a town known for its specialty coffee, flowers, and chilly weather.
Andrés Cortes arranged the outdoor ceremony as a wildflower garden, with a unique and eclectic seating arrangement including sofas and various assortments of chairs.

Destination Wedding in Lake Como
Lake Como is for sure one of the most romantic places to get married. It offers wonderful views and the possibility to reach the wedding venues by boat. The wedding planner Veronica Frasca planned this three-day destination wedding, which included a Chinese Tea ceremony.
The joyful personality of the couple is clearly represented by the colorful decorations they chose for their wedding. They had very colorful flowers and cute DIY fans for guests on each seat at the ceremony. It was also a nice joke with the surname of the bride. They then chose to have an ice cream cart to offer delicious ice cream after the ceremony. Ice cream is very Italian style, and the cart was a vintage one. This made the hot summer afternoon much more pleasant for all guests.
They wanted a joyful and colorful wedding. Focus, indeed, was on a setup with lively colors like coral, peach, blush, orange, cream, and gold. Big gold vintage vases full of David Austin roses, hydrangeas, chrysanthemums, dahlias, hypericum, and carnations were used as centerpieces, with candles all around. Being it a destination wedding, it was natural to have “TRAVEL” as a wedding theme. They indeed had boarding card-style invitations, postcards of places they had visited as table names, and luggage tags as escort cards/favors. Their own table, of course, was called Lake Como. A nice panel then collected some photos of their travels and their life together.

Romantic and Elegant Wedding in Portugal
The bride always imagined a romantic and elegant setting for her wedding in Portugal. The Marquês de Fronteira palace proved to be the perfect place to celebrate it, and the wedding planner Teresa Perdigão created a decor that matched the venue’s grandeur.
The team focused on coordinating the decor in a way that matched the Palace's grandeur, without becoming too formal and also including some Portuguese elements, such as the tiles gifted to the guests, which are definitely a unique detail of the Palace terrace. Also, Raquel is a Fine Art History graduate who loves everything that lives and breathes art, she was certainly able to find that in the Palácio Marquês de Fronteira.

Blossom Wedding: A Ceremony in the Pandemic
The cherry blossom is the symbol of love, renewal, and hope. Since this couple met in Japan, and due to the pandemics, the wedding planner Rui Mota Pinto created a concept inspired by the meaning of this tree: enjoy life intensely.
Cherry Blossom or Sakura is the Symbol of love, renewal, and hope. The cherry blossom comes into the world only once a year and for a very short period. For that reason, it has become an icon of the evaluation of life, an invitation to contemplation and stillness.
